Hello folks ~

If I write a limerick, it is usually for a Poetry Saturday.  I still laugh at the one I wrote in April, so I am posting it again.  Hope you like it!

LIMERICK

He was Italian

and even owned a stallion

He frequented the House of Bernaducci

where the guests wore clothes from Gucci.

That was, of course, before he joined the battalion.

He was a brave man, fearless and bold

there never was a thought that he would get old

He weathered the war then to his home went back

Sadly he suffered a heart attack

simply because his stallion had been sold.

His wife, she was a strange one

never smiled at him till her work was done

She cooked, she cleaned, she stewed

“I work too hard,” was her attitude

She could not loosen up, for she didn’t know how to have fun.

Then one day the Italian and his wife were together

the wife decided to cut her husband’s tether

She wanted to treat him better

told him this without writing a letter

and kissed him, lightly as a feather.

What Not to Pay Attention To!

Here’s a copy of a Spam comment I received a little while ago.   If the writer of that comment was serious, then my apologies, but most likely it was an experiment in absurdity or the art of being obtuse.   It reminds me of when I was suckered into joining an online dating site before Dave came back into my life, and some of my friends, male and female, who were on the same site said they received letters very much like mine.   These people promised the world to the receiver of the letter, when actually all they wanted was a green card.  Anyway, here’s the comment sent to Sunshine Factor:

I loved as much as you will receive carried out right here. The sketch is attractive, your authored subject matter stylish. nonetheless, you command get bought an shakiness over that you wish be delivering the following. unwell unquestionably come further formerly again as exactly the same nearly a lot often inside case you shield this hike.”
I hope these spammers realize they don’t get answers back from all the people they write to  – and – GIVE IT UP!  PLEASE!  Although I have a feeling they either don’t care less, or their comments are programmed to be sent to EVERYONE.
What has your experience with spammers on WordPress been like?

Happy One Week Birthday, Story Squared!

Today I feel like happiness in the flesh, like a proud parent of a wonderful “child”.

The story that Eric and I have created and add to every day (http://storysquared.wordpress.com)  has now been in the WordPress blogosphere for one week.

This is a big deal, for the joy in writing it is immense, and I want to cherish AND recognize each moment.

I can’t help but reread each entry several times, it amuses me so.

I need to thank each of its readers and followers — thank you for tuning in and liking our story.

Here’s to even more smiles and laughs and joy – cheers!

Houses

You may remember that I love to look at various types of home architecture.  Especially in my neighborhood, there are no two houses that look alike (well, except for the townhomes, which come with three floor plans).

I got to walking in my neighborhood

dreaming in my own little world as usual

wondering about the lives of the inhabitants inside the homes

Are they happy?

Now that they’ve “arrived”, have they found the contentment they had sought?

Or have prior conflicts and shattered relationships just followed them?

And how is the house of my heart?

Dusty and cold?

Or filled with sponges that soak up everything around it?

I don’t mind being a sponge

but sometimes I wish I wouldn’t be so absorbent

pay attention to what’s going on with me

yet still care what happens to my loved ones

Can there please be a happy medium?

I look for that every day

I don’t want to be carried out with the tide

Nature Journal

Early yesterday morning, my neighborhood was serene but filled with nature sounds.

As I walked from my street and into the new subdivision, one or two houses in, I saw it.

It was an animal that you don’t usually see in broad daylight.  It was about two miles south of where his “congregation” lives.

It was a deer, standing near the pond that is between that row of houses and the row up the hill behind it.

It was young enough and had no horns, that I didn’t know if it was a buck or doe.

Either way, it stood so still, I was sure at first that it was a realistic-looking lawn ornament.

Then I saw it was real, and it looked at me, as transfixed by the sight of me as I was of it.

I called out gently, “Good morning, deer, I won’t hurt you,” and I walked on.  Wow, I didn’t startle it into running away.

Once up the hill and to the next row of houses, I heard a Canadian goose honking.

The sound wasn’t so unusual, it was where the goose was that I found enchanting.

He was standing on top of the roof of a two-or-three-story house; in fact, he was centered perfectly.

He honked a bunch of one-syllable “words” to his buddy or mate, on the ground two houses east.

I heard a blue jay “screeching” or cawing as they do.

Come to think of it, I’ve never heard a blue jay sing.

He is related to the common crow, so that is probably why.

Jays are beautiful birds, and I am told they are very protective parents in August.

Back home, when I sit down in my living room,

I can see nothing but trees.  I feel like I live in a nature park, and it makes me happy.

I thoroughly enjoy my neighborhood!  Here’s hoping you enjoy your little bit of nature where you are.  :)
