Never-ending cycle

first the struggles to learn how to act

taking the plunge to move to L.A.

living on pennies for a chance to be seen

then popularity

oh, the camera and press love you

you think you’ve arrived

then you wish you had your privacy back

fans and critics alike hound you

a relentless exercise in futility

when you fade into the background

and perform in just a few family movies every ten years or so

you are at a moment of truth

then living alone tucked into a mansion

high in the hills and away from civilization

you drive yourself to town for groceries

and you are asked for your driver’s license

this is not to prove you are really he

but to make sure the address on your check is correct

You overhear someone in the store

saying they’ve never heard of you

how does that make you feel?

It is best to know yourself

and accept yourself

be who you are and not a fake version of you

that someone else wants you to be

so that you never have to depend upon

accolades or feel frustrated by a lack of them

I am an optimistic, positive person who is a seven year cancer survivor. Since that time I have learned that getting a cancer diagnosis does not always mean an automatic death sentence. I like to share my hope with others and continue to encourage them - no matter who they are or what they need encouragement for. I write poems, prayers, articles, and stories. Recently the premiere issue of my online magazine, http://www.innersunshine.net launched. Thank you for visiting!

  1. I think it would do some actors/actresses good to read this. Some of them seem to believe their own publicity 🙂
