Happy Mother’s Day!

14177769813_39c5a86369_zThis greeting also goes out to all the caring people who have no children but have a mother’s heart anyway.  🙂

You are loved.  You are special.

I appreciate you.

I am an optimistic, positive person who is a seven year cancer survivor. Since that time I have learned that getting a cancer diagnosis does not always mean an automatic death sentence. I like to share my hope with others and continue to encourage them - no matter who they are or what they need encouragement for. I write poems, prayers, articles, and stories. Recently the premiere issue of my online magazine, launched. Thank you for visiting!

  1. Hi Debb, My husband is also a cancer survivor and that is part of the reason we are in dog rescue/ foster/adoption. While we were helping an abused dog heal, we found that he was actually healing my husband during cancer. Phillip, the fabulous, never got any potential adopters from the blog in the 6 months that we tried. But an amazing thing happened one day. We were contacted by the Make a Wish Foundation about a 26 year old woman that had a brittle bone disease. Her wish was to see the adoptable dogs at Petco one last time before she died. We hosted the weekly Petco adoption events. I felt that I could trust Phillip to visit her bedside as she wasted away. After all, he’d been through basic manners training classes! Phillip surprised everyone with his compassion and tenderness toward this disabled dying individual. He is now working to become a therapy dog and visits persons in home hospice on a weekly basis. We hope to get him certified to go to nursing homes and women’s shelters. Perhaps he never got noticed, because he wasn’t meant for just one person. He will remain with us as he continues his journey. Thank You for your kind words.

    • Hello Ellen! I “met” you on Janni Styles’ blog, right? I am so glad you wrote me such a nice note. I love getting the details on the things I love such as dogs and cancer survivors — so happy for your husband! And happy for Phillip. He sounds wonderful. I’m sure you’ll be able to get him certified to go to nursing homes and women’s shelters, where he will definitely be a big hit! My husband is allergic to dogs 😦 so we have two cats, Micah and Rachael. Anyways, my new blog is if you want to check out where I’m from. If your comment above is any indication, I know I will love your blog when I find it! Will check it out soon. With love, Debb
