Day 17 Antiperfectionism Series

More words to get out of your vocabulary:

“If only.”  If only I could get married, if only I had children, if only I made more money….if – if – if!  But that’s a fantasy – – your life is what you make it, and one particular event will not give you happiness.  The only way you can get perfectionism out of your life is to be happy for what you do have and who you are and what you are doing currently.    If you can’t – then feel free to make changes.  Just remember :   having a mental checklist of the things you think will make you happy is a dead-end road.

Is there a way, perhaps,

to share my joy?

That begets silliness,

that brings on contentment?

I will try to help people out

make them laugh over the smallest things

reconnect with their inner child

do things that are harmless but fun.

The Debbie (A) is a dance where you only use your arms

which makes Debbie (B) the dance for your lower half.

Debbie (C) is dancing in the car only

where your shoulders move, your lips sing and your non-driving foot taps out a rhythm.

Oh boy, can’t we just say

she’s referring to Debbie Reynolds or Little Debbie treats?

No indeed

for that would be too logical.

We mustn’t forget Debbie (D) and (E)

this will give you a more complete picture

Debbie (D) is the smile she uses at all times so her face won’t frown and fall off

Debbie (E) is the “EEEeeekkkkk!” when she is so happy, she can think of nothing to do but shriek in a good way.

For why did you endure reading this poem?

So you can laugh and then

figure out what YOU do that sets you apart from the others

We’ve gotta enjoy this life while we can

Daily Prompt: Quote Me

Do you have a favorite quote that you return to again and again? What is it, and why does it move you?

My favorite quote is something I came up with just today as I came out of having a massage at the spa.   I felt so good and relaxed and happy, that all the way to the grocery store and then back home, I kept running it over and over in my mind.

The phrases that linked themselves together made these sentences:

You can’t improve yourself unless you’re good to yourself.  And you can’t be good to yourself unless you love yourself.

Most of my readers know that I like to redo or rework the negatives…I framed my phrases in a positive way, and here is the quote I came up with:

“When you love yourself, you end up doing things that are good for yourself.  When you are good to yourself, it’s easy to improve yourself.”

This quote moves me because I have finally figured out what would help me with my quest to improve myself.   Loving myself the last couple of years makes it possible to improve myself without going all militant and perfectionistic.

Okay, folks, ideally I wanted to present the pictures in an organized fashion so their progression would tell a story. But…the pictures are out of order, and sometimes the caption belongs to the picture above, and there are some duplicates but either way – this isn’t too bad of a job, since it’s the first time that I’ve put pictures on my blog. Right? 🙂 I figured you would like to see them sooner than later, yes?  I reserve to show you more pictures if I can find the good close up ones we have!  I guess this is me not trying to be perfect.  🙂
