June is one of my favorite months. Here in the Twin Cities of Minnesota, the mosquitoes are not at their peak yet, so it’s easier to be outside. The humidity is not so cumbersome yet. In early June, the blossoms on the trees such as the crabapple and lilac bushes might still be around for a little while yet.
June seems to be the harbinger of new beginnings, such as graduation from school or college –and weddings too. For me, it’s always a time for me to take more walks outside and enjoy nature.
Trivia question: do you know that in the beginning of the month of June, when you walk past a Russian olive tree, you can smell something spicy, like cinnamon? My neighborhood had a lot of vacant lots where the deer and other critters lived, and the vacant lots were edged with my “cinnamon trees”. Alas, now the new subdivision has moved in. The deer and turkeys are still around; however, my walks don’t smell spicy anymore. 😦
I wish you a very happy month of June, and prayers go out for a safe and remarkable month for you.

Debb, what I meant was that I will soon be doing community programming on our local cable channels here and I am out and about getting stories together for the show and so if you watch the local Minnesota programming channels, chances are you will be seeing me soon. I am trying to put a ‘face’ on homelessness and decided that I would get more of an audience if I learned how to produce my own show. Have a great evening! It’s wonderful out tonight!

I too am in Minnesota and wouldn’t live any place else. I’m actually a ‘snowbird’ but it’s been such a great start to the season, not too hot, nicely breezy and I just love spending more time out of doors! Still love a Minnesnowta winter though!
Happy June to you too!

Hey Shelby, Hi to another “Minnesnowtan”! 🙂 Are you in the Cities? I joined your blog tonight because I found it and liked your latest post – I think you will like the one I’m posting on Thursday. Cheers! (P.S. Yes, the weather here has been lovely!)

Yes, I’m in the Cities. I just got back from Virginia which is my home state. I couldn’t take it down there. The people are not ‘MinnesotaNice’ and I found myself longing for Minnesota. I was down there taking care of my ill mother and then my sister died. I read about your sister and it brought tears to my eyes. You have my deepest sympathy Debb. I am still reeling from the recent death of my baby sister. Take care of yourself and who knows, I might see you around the Cities sometime.

Oh Shelby! I’m so sorry about your mom being ill and then your sister is gone. 😦 My sympathies go out to you, too. Please be kind to yourself during this time, because you can’t rush grief. And that’s all the advice I’ll give – I know everybody’s story is a little different. It would be nice to see you sometime, I just wouldn’t want you keeling over in surprise if you met me in person. 🙂

The 1st of June is the first day of winter here in Oz. It was quite mild till mid afternoon, and then it started to rain. The current (6:41pm) temperature is 61 degrees. Today was also my youngest granddaughter’s first birthday party – Happy Birthday Sophie 🙂

Awww, enjoy your first birthday, Sophie! 🙂 Well then Lyn, to you I would say Happy Winter. 61 degrees doesn’t sound too bad. 🙂
